Specific evidence-based guidelines can help emergency physicians treat many Americans who suffer mild heart attacks or unstable angina, the American Heart Association says in a new scientific statement.

The statement, published in today's issue of Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association, is a joint effort by the association and the Society of Chest Pain Centers to improve care by streamlining risk assessment.
