Flu Vaccine and Influenza
Influenza (Flu) Vaccine Supplies have increased 16% for the 2006-07 flu season. Four manufacturers are providing flu vaccine to the U.S. population. 100 million doses of trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (TIV) and a sufficient amount of the nasal-spray, live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) will be available for use during the 2006-07 flu season. Flu vaccine distribution delays or vaccine supply shortages have occurred in the United States in four of the last five flu seasons, however there were no major delays or shortages of flu vaccine this season.
Flu Season is upon us and the Merced County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is reminding seniors and those at risk that it's not too late to get a flu shot. Flu shots are still available during regular immunization clinic hours to everyone. The charge for all adults ages 18 and over is $2.00 depending on availability. MediCal and MediCare will be accepted for those eligible. For more information call the MCDPH Flu Info Line at (209) 381-1180 or en Espa
