Can varicose veins really vanish? Are there easy solutions for treating spider veins? According to Dr. Oz, there are varicose and spider vein solutions for everyone that can push back the clock and provide you with younger-looking, beautiful legs once again.

“Too many of you are hiding behind long pants and skirts because you are ashamed of your varicose and spider veins, but that is going to stop today,” says Dr. Oz as he tells viewers about the latest ways to make those unsightly veins go away.

According to Dr. Oz, varicose and spider veins are the result of a similar process that involves how well blood travels through the venous system from the lower legs back to the heart. The veins in the legs contain small one-way valves that allow the blood to flow up toward the heart. The purpose of these one-way valves is to prevent blood from draining back down the legs. However, over time with aging and stress on the body, those valves can become leaky and begin to allow some blood to drain back due to gravity. When this happens, the blood pools within the veins and bulges out as unsightly varicose veins.

Spider veins have a similar problem where blood gets trapped, but in this case it involves the smaller blood vessels referred to as the capillary system that branches off from the larger veins in the legs.

“The good news is that there a lot of good ideas that work very effectively to get rid of these,” says Dr. Oz as he lists for viewers the following varicose vein and spider vein solutions:

Varicose Vein and Spider Vein Solution #1: Gotu Kola Supplement

According to Dr. Oz, Gotu Kola is a member of the parsley family and is grown in India and China where it is well-known for its wound and skin healing properties. It is believed to help prevent further development of varicose veins by actually strengthening the weakened valves that are allowing blood to leak in the wrong direction.

“There have been a bunch of clinical trials on people that shows that it reduces the progression of varicose veins and may even make them a little better,” says Dr. Oz who recommends taking 60 milligrams of the supplement once a day.

While not a cure for treating spider veins, Dr. Oz tells viewers that with a simple application of waterproof makeup, that those unsightly spider veins can be hidden from view and allow you the freedom to wear shorts again―even while exposed to water at the beach or pool this summer.

Although the show does not clearly identify the exact brand of makeup used as a demonstration, Dr. Oz does have a special guest makeup artist from Cover FX who shows viewers how easily an application of makeup can hide spider veins. Cover FX is a beauty product company that specializes in scientifically researched makeup that not only offers a wide range of colors to meet all skin tones, but is also hypoallergenic for those who suffer from medical skin conditions and skin sensitivity to many commercial skin care products.

Varicose Vein and Spider Vein Solution #3: Two Permanent Dermatology Techniques

According to special guest Dr. Neil Sadick, a dermatologist and former president of the American College of Phlebology, painless sclerotherapy can be applied via a needle to varicose veins and spider veins that will remove them permanently from the legs.

Sclerotherapy is a specialized dermatological procedure that involves using a very fine needle to inject a substance directly into the vein that irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to eventually turn into scar tissue that fades away over time.

For spider veins that are too small to inject via a needle, one option is a type of laser therapy that essentially works the same way in ridding the legs of discolored spider veins.

Typically, removing varicose and spider veins this way involves 2-3 treatments at a cost of approximately $400-$600 per treatment.

“For women who are bothered by this all the time, it’s just a wonderful opportunity,” says Dr. Oz who shows viewers some very impressive before and after images of varicose veins and spider veins that were successfully removed with a combination of sclerotherapy and laser therapy.
