According to U.S. News & World Report Health, the easier a diet is to follow, the better the odds are of sticking to it. Factoring in user-friendliness, filling and taste, the minimum of stringent daily requirements, and availability of unique food items required for each diet, they ranked 32 popular diet programs of which the top 5 are summarized below.

No. 1 Easiest Diet: Weight Watchers (3.7 out of 5.0)

No forbidden foods, all-you-can-eat fruits and vegetables, and occasional treats. Weight Watcher’s with its allotted daily points plan made the top of the list as the easiest diet to follow for realistic, flexible and filling weight loss.

However, not all health and weight loss experts are in agreement with the nutritional value of many of the foods offered through the Weight Watchers program. On the Dr. Oz Show, special guest Dr. Joel Fuhrman contends that programs like Weight Watchers continue to foster eating a toxic diet that does nothing to eliminate the craving to eat more than people should.

In spite of his concerns, these 5 reasons point out why Weight Watchers made it as the top dieting program in 2013.

No. 2 Easiest Diet: Jenny Craig (3.6 out of 5.0)

Jenny Craig is the diet to follow for those who prefer to take the guesswork out of dieting with prepackaged, home-delivered meals that makes this an exceptionally convenient dieting plan. In addition, meals that include favorites like apple cinnamon waffles, lasagna, fish and chips, and cookies passed Consumer Reports taste-testing panel as good overall.

No. 3 Easiest Diet: Flexitarian Diet (3.3 out of 5.0)
