It’s one problem many foreign newcomers discover after they have moved to America - they are getting fat! Here is what one health expert found when he came to America and how he developed Peruvian superfoods to fight his weight gain.


Peruvian health expert Manuel Villacorta was shocked to find that after moving to America that he had packed on an extra 25 pounds in a relatively short amount of time. As a nutritionist, he realized how it had happened and tackled his weight gain by developing a diet plan consisting of Peruvian superfoods that were the diet staples used by the Incan nation centuries ago.

"I define superfoods as foods that not only give you nutritional value, they have something extraordinary. They all have anti-inflammatory effects, they all have phytochemicals, rich in antioxidants," stated Mr. Villacorta.

Mr. Villacorta’s new diet plan resulted in his publishing a new diet book titled “WHOLE BODY REBOOT: The Peruvian Superfoods Diet to Detoxify, Energize, and Supercharge Fat Loss.” According to his book the key to transforming your health and your body can be found in Peruvian superfoods from the Andes to the Amazon. In addition to what foods to look for toward weight loss, the book also includes a 5-day Reboot Detox Plan and four 7-day meal plans (of less than 400 calories each) for not only omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans, but also for those on gluten-free diets.

Similar to the Mediterranean diet, Mr. Villacorta’s Peruvian superfood program is packed with nutritious and delicious colorful fruits, vegetables and grains. For example, he recommends eating seeds like chia, flax and sacha inchi, which are high in omega-3's that play an important role in fighting inflammation in the body that leads to fat accumulating specifically around the waist and internal organs.

His more colorful superfood choices include antioxidant-charged purple corn and purple potatoes that can help fight diseases such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

His diet plan recipes also include something for those with a taste for healthy chocolate such as his cacao, quinoa, gluten-free flour, coconut oil and walnut filled brownies. And for detoxing and resetting your system, he also has his own blend of spinach, kale, cilantro, avocado, pineapple and coconut water in a green reboot smoothie.

But if you are worried that his meals may be too exotic for your tastes, you need not worry as he has designed his meals to be what he refers to as powered-up versions of traditional American dishes.
