FDA warns users of male enhancement drug

Here’s the latest sex enhancement supplement that the FDA recently discovered could be potentially dangerous for men who are looking for some online self-help rather than seeing their doctor about their erectile dysfunction.

According to a press release by the FDA, the male enhancement dietary supplement sold online as “Rhino” that makes some incredible—if not impossible―physiological claims for many men and is claimed to be “doctor designed,” is currently under a voluntary recall after the FDA discovered the it is laced with potentially dangerous drugs.

“Rhino” is manufactured by TF Supplements of Houston, Texas and was found by FDA labs to contain desmethyl carbondenafil―a member of a class of drugs used to treat male erectile dysfunction; and, dapoxetine―a chemical that belongs to the same class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which are used to treat depression.

The danger of using this sex enhancement supplement is that the desmethyl carbondenafil ingredient could interact with nitrate-based prescription medications such as nitroglycerin tablets and result in a life-threatening drop in blood pressure. Since the recalled sex enhancement drug does not list desmethyl carbondenafil in its label, a consumer already under prescription pill treatment for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease could unknowingly put his health at risk by taking this supplement.

The second ingredient also not included in the labeling―dapoxetine―is not approved by the FDA for use and could result in an increased the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior.

The FDA states that the recalled lots include:

• RHINO 7 3000 capsules packaged in a bottle containing six (6) capsules UPC: 616453150126. Lot numbers are located on the side of the container.
