What can you accomplish in just one weekend? How about look years younger in just two days?! Read on and discover Dr. Oz’s advice on how to look younger in just one weekend with these anti-aging secrets.
“The weekend is my favorite part of the week because these two days are the best time to make a change. So, I’ve got your weekend beauty calendar today to tell you exactly what you need to do to look younger by Monday,” says Dr. Oz as he reveals some anti-aging secrets with his special guest ,Alexis Farah, Beauty Editor for the website EVERYDAYHEALTH.COM.
“The weekends are meant for rest and relaxation, but if you do these simple beauty treatments at the exact right time, they can have a dramatic effect on your skin in just two days,” says Ms. Farah as she offers to viewers the following beauty secrets:
Anti-Aging Secret #1: White tea instead of coffee on weekend mornings
To begin the weekend beauty treatment, Ms. Farah recommends skipping that morning cup of coffee and instead, switch over to drinking White tea to get your day started.
“Studies out of England actually say that White tea has the highest antioxidant content,” says Ms. Farah who states that the antioxidant content in White tea can plump up your skin to help remove fine lines and wrinkles. Furthermore, she adds that White tea can also help reverse photo-damage to the skin from too much sun.
Anti-Aging Secret #2: Cold eye cream on weekend mornings
The next step in your weekend morning routine is to apply eye cream that has been stored cold. One example product shown on The Dr. Oz Show is “Instant Energizing Eye Gel (with caffeine).”
“So we are actually going to take the caffeine out of your coffee and put it right into your eye cream. Now caffeine in eye cream is great because it stimulates the thin skin under your eye area instantly, and the coolness also perks you up, de-puffs and smoothens out a lot of those under-eye circles,” says Ms. Farah.
To apply eye cream with caffeine in it, Ms. Farah recommends using only the tips of your ring fingers because they tend to be the softest of your fingers. After placing a small amount of eye cream to the fingertip, gently dab to the skin beneath the eyes. Do not rub it in as this will irritate and further damage this delicate skin area.
Anti-Aging Secret #3: Exfoliate during the pm
“Exfoliation is one of the quickest ways to make your skin look younger,” says Ms. Farah who tells viewers why it works is that it removes the dead skin cells that make your skin appear dull under light.
She recommends exfoliating with approximately a dime-sized amount of an alpha-hydroxy acid exfoliating cleanser onto a small rough cloth towel that is then rubbed onto the facial skin in a circular motion. This procedure should be done only once during the weekend and preferably during the weekend on Saturday evening as it will give your exfoliated skin time to recover by Monday morning.
Anti-Aging Secret #4: Moisturize before bedtime on Saturday and Sunday night
“One of the most tell-tale signs of aging is dehydration. By using face oil, you are putting that moisture back into your skin. People don’t automatically think of this as a face oil, but one of my favorites is Argan oil,” says Ms. Farah who explains that it is a great way to rehydrate the skin after it has been exfoliated. She recommends adding just a couple of drops of Argan oil to your preferred moisturizing cream and apply as usual.
Anti-Aging Secret #5: Avocado your hair
“Three signs of aging hair are dullness, breakage and dryness,” says Ms. Farah who tells viewers that avocado oil is her secret remedy for all three signs of aging hair. She says that you can buy a hair product that contains avocado in it; or, simply puree an avocado in a blender and rub it in your hair for 5 minutes while showering. After the 5 minutes are up, rinse out the avocado and then shampoo as usual.
