How This Woman Lost 56 Inches with a Special Smoothie
Would you like to go from a size 24 dress to a size 4? It can be done attests one Dr. Oz guest who owes part of her weight loss of 110 pounds to a special smoothie formulation of her own.
On a recent episode of The Dr. Oz Show, a special guest named “Amanda” was on stage to let others know that weight loss does work if you are willing to put the work into it as she had learned through the power of protein.
Like many Americans who can place a good part of the blame to their weight gain from high stress and shifting schedules, Amanda is a nurse who works 12-hour shifts who―as you can see by her before and after images―persevered and achieved a significant weight loss transformation in spite of her hectic life.
As part of Dr. Oz’s “Power Protein Plan” episode, Amanda was there to share with viewers her recipe for a protein-packed smoothie in the morning for breakfast—and sometimes for other meals—that helped her achieve significant weight loss.
“I get up every morning and it’s the quickest thing I can do: I use unsweetened almond milk, I use a chocolate-based whey protein powder, I use either half of a banana or a whole banana, and I use peanut butter and I blend it all together. Usually it’s my first meal, but sometimes I’ll have it more than one meal a day if I’m feeling sluggish or I need a little pick-me-up,” says Amanda, who added that she does not use artificial sweeteners at all in her smoothie recipe.
The lack of using artificial sweeteners in your protein drink―or any dieting foods―could be key criteria according to some health experts who believe that the use of artificial sweeteners prevents weight loss rather than aids weight loss.
When Dr. Oz asked Amanda if she had any parting advice or take-home message about her success towards weight loss, she essentially told viewers that in spite of feeling that the challenge of losing weight seems too onerous, that they too can achieve as she achieved.
“Just know that whether you’ve done it before, or this is the first time—it can be done. It takes hard work―blood, sweat and tears―and determination. It is 100 percent possible. If you cannot do it by yourself, then get a support group—do it with a friend, do it with co-workers. You can 100 percent absolutely do this,” says Amanda.
