On The Dr. Oz Show, one of his “Just Lose 10 Pounds” plans to encourage people to take charge of their health - 10 pounds at a time - involves following 5 simple rules created by a guest team of health providers. These 5 weight loss rules provided by Dr. Oz and his team toward losing just 10 pounds are small steps toward the larger goal of eventual significant weight loss through simple habit changes that will help you live a longer and healthier life. And if that’s not enough, Dr. Oz also points out that a loss of just 10 pounds equals one dress size smaller on your next new dress.

You will cut out sugary soda. According to Dr. Oz, replacing one soda a day with water throughout a year will result in a loss of 10 pounds.

You will not eat past 8 p.m. Put a curfew at the kitchen after 8 p.m. or 3 hours before bedtime if you work late into the day. People who eat late at night gain 19 more pounds per year than people who don’t.

You will move 10 minutes per day. Studies show that moving even a little bit can have great benefits not only on your weight, but other aspects of your life. A little bit of movement can go a long way.

You will not eat snacks larger than your fist. The difficulty of snacking is that we tend to eat out of the box and don’t stop until it’s all gone. To break this habit, portion out your snack into a fist-sized amount and store it in a small sandwich bag and carry it with you. Once you eat it—that’s it. You are done.

You will track your weight daily. Knowing what you weigh will enable you to change. Research shows that if we track our weight daily that we will hold ourselves accountable and will be successful in losing weight.
