In a recent online installment of Prevention magazine, biohacker and author of the popular “Bulletproof Diet,” Dave Asprey recently offered these following bulletproof diet hacks that he says work by manipulating your body’s biology for the better toward natural weight loss.

Bulletproof Diet Hack #1: Avoid gluten.

Gluten causes inflammation, which can lead to weight gain, and reduces cerebral blood flow, which can affect how our mind works and the mood we are in.

Bulletproof Diet Hack #2: Never eat sugar or starch before dinner.

According to Dave Asprey, sugar and starch at the beginning of the day sets you up for blood sugar swings and cravings throughout. You can avoid this by limiting your carb intake to moderate amounts at dinnertime only, which also has the added advantage of improving your sleep.

Bulletproof Diet Hack #3: Eat more grass-fed butter, but less dairy protein from milk and cheese.

Go for the dairy fats in butter from free-range, grass-fed cattle to help your body build healthy hormones and cell membranes. But stay away from fat-causing inflammation triggers like the dairy proteins found in milk and cheese that he says are responsible for muffin tops and causing food cravings.

Bulletproof Diet Hack #4: Eat foods that are high in polyphenol antioxidants.

A favorite of Dr. Oz’s, foods rich in polyphenol antioxidants such as dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and brightly colored vegetables gives your body what it needs, and feeds the good gut bacteria that helps the body stay fit.

Bulletproof Diet Hack #5: Drink bulletproof coffee for breakfast every day

For better focus, fewer cravings, and improved metabolism, this is one of his more-famous recommendations for weight loss. Dave Asprey recommends butter in your coffee for weight loss using butter from grass-fed cows for its collagen protein that will not cause the inflammation that typically results from other types of proteins. He reportedly claims to have discovered the rejuvenating power of butter during travel when Tibetans gave him a similar yak butter tea.

Making your own bulletproof coffee is as simple as blending 1 cup of hot coffee with 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter from grass-fed cows and adding 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. It can be used as a breakfast drink that has been described as like an ultra-rich cappuccino that can hold your appetite over until lunchtime.
