Rapid Irregular Heartbeat

Heavy drinking is associated with a significantly increased risk of a rapid, irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation that can lead to stroke, according to a report in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.

Men who averaged 35 alcoholic drinks per week had a 45 percent to 63 percent increased risk of atrial fibrillation compared to people who drank less than one drink a week.
