Healty eating habits

On Monday, April 16, home economist and award-winning author Mairlyn Smith will present Eating Healthy for People on the Go, an evening of practical suggestions and menus for people on the go.

The FREE presentation will be held at the Best Western Guildwood Inn, Point Edward, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Susan Harris, Registered Dietitian at the County of Lambton Community Health Services Department, says, "Four of 10 Canadians agree their life is so hectic they find it hard to include healthy food options on a daily basis." (Ipsos Reid, January 2005).

A lack of time and the need for convenience are two main barriers that prevent people from cooking more often. According to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, (2005), juggling work and family time is a real challenge for many families, especially couples with children.

Smith, author of "The Ultimate Foods for Ultimate Health, and don't forget the chocolate", will explain the ins and outs of healthy eating starting with fruits and vegetables and ending with wine and chocolate. She will also offer ways to use time wisely to make healthy and tasty food families will enjoy.
