NEW AAP Medicaid Statement Recommends Changes to Help Children
Children's Health Care and Medicaid
As Congress and state governments consider ways to rein in escalating Medicaid costs, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) offers 40 recommendations in a revised Medicaid policy statement to help the 26 million children who receive their health care through the program.
Medicaid is the largest children's health program in the country, so protecting and improving their coverage and benefits is critical. According to the revised AAP Medicaid Policy Statement, Medicaid should continue to provide Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) and other "mandatory and optional" benefits for all eligible children.
