"Uninsured and Dying Because of It: Updating the Institute ofMedicine Analysis on the Impact of Uninsurance on Mortality,"UrbanInstitute: The analysis updates a 2002 Instituteof Medicine report that found 18,000 deaths in 2000 resulted fromuninsured adults delaying or going without necessary medical care.

The Urban Institute analysis estimates that 22,000 deathsnationwide in 2007 resulted from adults not having health insurance.The analysis concludes that 137,000 people died between 2000 and 2006because they did not have coverage (Urban Institute release, 1/8).
