Residents and their family members, County officials, hospital administrators, and other community members were on hand to learn about the program. Following an injury, illness or surgery, many people require rehabilitation therapy to assist them in returning to their highest possible capabilities.

Winchester House offers inpatient rehabilitation services to fit the specific needs of each resident. The program helps people heal quickly and improve their quality of life.

"We are excited to show the residents of Lake County the new state of the art therapy program at Winchester House," County Board Member Steve Carlson said. "This program allows us to serve Lake County residents who only require a short stay before returning home."

Winchester House offers physical and occupational therapy and speech-language pathology as part of its rehabilitation program. After an evaluation, a highly skilled and trained therapist develops a personalized treatment program to help the individual regain his or her highest possible level of function.

A unique component of rehabilitation at Winchester House is the Community Reintegration Program, a simulated apartment setting where residents relearn and practice daily activities such as opening and closing cabinets, preparing food and maneuvering around furniture.

Completion of the Community Reintegration Program allows participants the greatest opportunity for success as they transition home.
