Mission Hospitals' Cancer Program has earned accreditation with commendation status from The American College of Surgeons (ACoS), and renewed accreditation from The American College of Radiology (ACR).

"Commendation status from the Commission on Cancer was received because several areas of our program exceed the national standards," said Karen Grogan, Director of Mission Oncology and Infusion Services. "For example, Mission was recognized for our high rate of participation in cancer related clinical trials or research. This is significant to anyone in the region who needs cancer care because they have access to national research and other advanced treatment options locally, without traveling away from their families."

Mission's Radiation Oncology and its contracted physician group, Mountain Radiation Oncology, have also earned their fifth consecutive accreditation from the American College of Radiology.

"As one of only three accredited sites in North Carolina, passing the American College of Radiology's rigorous review is confirmation of our status as one of the finest Radiation Oncology Centers in the southeast," said Rick Righi, Director of Mission Radiation Therapy and Cancer Data Services.
