School Bus Safety

Child Safety and School Bus

Automobile accidents continue to be the leading cause of death for children older than 12 months of age. Fortunately, we are much more aware of the value of wearing seatbelts than in the past and this has helped in reducing some deaths and disabilities from vehicular accidents.

One particular area that should be of concern is school bus safety. Almost all children in Arkansas will, at one time or another, ride a school bus and the majority of school children ride a bus to school or for a school-associated function every day. Traditional school buses remain the safest form of school transportation; nevertheless, there are deaths and injuries associated with school bus injuries each year.
