The Springfield-Greene County Health Department launches a new telephone number that provides recorded information on sexually transmitted diseases and HIV testing services. By calling (417) 864-1750, callers can listen to a 2-minute recording about clinic hours, services provided and how to get test results. The recording also offers information clients need to know before being tested, such as medications that may interfere with test results.

"The recording was designed to answer some of the most frequently asked questions in a low stress environment," says Kendra Williams, Administrator of Communicable Disease and Epidemiology. "Callers can get basic information anonymously by listening to the recording, and can then call a staff member if they have specific unanswered questions."

"We hope the recording will efficiently provide our clients with information they need to ensure they receive the best possible service once they arrive at the clinic," adds Williams. The phone number is currently active and will be listed in the next edition of the AT&T Yellow Pages, due to be printed in June 2007. It can be found in the blue pages under City Offices.
