Focus on Breast Screening During International Women's Week

Health professionals from Manchester Primary Care Trust (PCT) will be raising awareness of the importance of breast screening during International Women's Week 4 -11 March.

Breast screening is an NHS service which is provided free of charge every three years to ladies aged 50-70 who are registered with a GP. Breast screening can diagnose problems at an early stage and enable early treatment that can actually save lives. The Manchester PCT screening team is working hard to improve take-up of this essential service across the city, particularly with black and ethnic minority groups.


In a new joint initiative with Manchester City Football Club, women living in Central and North Manchester are invited to the mobile breast screening unit at City Stadium for their appointment.

The PCT will host the following events during International Women's Week:
