Following the rally, a health fair inside the Capitol will introduce Congress and members of the public to a new multi-media PSA campaign featuring longtime AARDA spokesperson and Emmy-nominated actress Kellie Martin.

The U.S. Senate designated May 2007 as national Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month (ADAM), calling on Americans to learn more about these diseases that are still not well-known or well- understood by the medical and research communities and the general public at large.

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), there are 23.5 million Americans who suffer from autoimmune diseases and the prevalence of these diseases is rising.
