Recently, media have been reporting about the alleged presence of lead in a few synthetic turf fields. The fields in question are not manufactured by Desso Sports Systems.

Customers who buy a Desso synthetic turf pitch, can rest assured that their pitch doesn't contain any lead.

All Desso synthetic turf products and complete systems have been tested and approved according to the strict German DIN 18035-7 standard. This standard, specifically developed for sports fields, includes sport functional requirements, the construction method and environmental requirements and is according to the European Standard EN 15330-1. Desso synthetic turf systems are authorized for use in water-collecting areas, even in Switzerland, where the criteria are even more stringent.

Unlike many other players in the sports surfaces business, Desso is supervised by the German DIN Certco, a long-term independent quality control, which includes the control of systems, production facilities and installed pitches.

More than 15.000 European clubs and communities play on Desso pitches since its start in the early 80's. They confirm Desso's reputation as the leading European manufacturer and installer of innovative high quality sports surfaces. Desso has been a constant innovator -- for example, pioneering and introducing the use of monofilament fibers to provide superior performance, safety and longevity.

Unlike many other players in the sports surfaces business, who claim to steer the value chain of synthetic turf, Desso is a vertically integrated company with a wide range of expertise and experience.

This means Desso keeps control on the total production process. Every step of the production process, from raw material to the extrusion of fibers and finally the completed synthetic turf field is monitored and is subject to rigorous internal and external testing, among which is the German DIN Certco.

Desso's production facility has an ISO 14001 environmental quality accreditation and an ISO 9001: 2000 Quality management Systems-Requirements accreditation in place for many years.
