Heat Alert

The Medical Officer of Health has issued a HEAT ALERT for Middlesex-London.

"The combination of high heat and high humidity puts stress on all of us, but is particularly difficult for those who can't get relief from the heat," says Jim Reffle, Director of Environmental Health & Chronic Disease Prevention Services at the Middlesex-London Health Unit. "That's why we issue a Heat Alert during these times of extreme temperatures to protect those most at risk such as the elderly, babies, the homeless and those who don't have air conditioned homes or workplaces."

In the summer months, the combination of high heat and high humidity can be very dangerous. Anyone who experiences physical distress because of the extreme temperatures should seek medical attention immediately either by calling 911 or going to the nearest Emergency Department.
