How to Cope with Holiday Stress.

Armen Hareyan's picture

Don't set your sights on the "perfect" holiday. Unrealistic expectations can lead to pre-holiday stress - and post-holiday disappointment.

Set a budget and stick to it. Show your loved ones you care with meaningful, not expensive, gifts.

Set achievable goals for what you can accomplish around the house. Delegate chores - and then accept that family members may tackle them differently than you would.

Look after yourself. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables and remember to drink lots of water every day. Regular exercise will also help keep stress levels down.

Remember that holiday stress can trigger or worsen the more serious conditions of depression or anxiety. If emotions like sadness or worry persist, cause significant distress and interfere with your life, it's time to seek help.
