AG Mednet Enables Cottage Hospital To Improve Patient Care And Radiology Services
Hospital Radiology Services
AG Mednet outlined that the use of its network has significantly improved patient care and radiology services at Cottage Hospital, an early AG Mednet customer.
Cottage Hospital is a 25 bed critical access facility in Woodsville, New Hampshire. Like many rural hospitals, Cottage Hospital faced a shortage of radiologists and had only one on staff to provide image interpretation. Increased patient volume, coupled with a new PACS system, presented operational challenges for Cottage Hospital and resulted in an unmanageable amount of work for the small radiology department. Modalities were not being used at full capacity and the hospital, always striving to provide the community with superior healthcare services, had been forced to limit the scope of radiology tests it offered.
Cottage Hospital sought ways to provide patients and referring physicians with continuous, 24x7 imaging services, improve modality utilization, add important imaging technologies to their offering, as well as give their community access to the best radiology interpretations available.
Cottage Hospital turned to AG Mednet, the world's largest diagnostic imaging exchange network. AG Mednet leverages breakthrough technology to enable anytime/anywhere access to image interpretation via the secure, rapid and lossless transmission of studies to subscribers.
"AG Mednet fits with our PACS system, could access any other PACS system or radiologist's computer, and requires no training or IT installation to get started," explained Marcy Rushford, director of radiology for Cottage Hospital. "It is user- friendly, allows images to be transmitted faster and maintains impeccable diagnostic quality. The diagnostic imaging exchange network puts Cottage Hospital in contact with credentialed specialty radiologists we didn't have access to before, such as neurology pediatrics, who are also available to our clinicians for consult."
Cottage Hospital's radiologist accesses AG Mednet's diagnostic imaging exchange network for support when he is not on site, is overloaded with scans or needs assistance with final readings to ensure patients are receiving the highest quality of care. With Cottage Hospital's subscription to the AG Mednet network, its radiologist can review studies for other hospitals, imaging centers, radiology practices or clinical trials as well.
"AG Mednet has enabled us to diagnose patient ailments earlier and that level of quality, continuous care is invaluable," continued Ms. Rushford. "AG Mednet is the most efficient technology we've ever had in place. It yields a 99.9 percent uptime, is fast and requires little maintenance."
"Cottage Hospital is progressive in its use of technology to improve patient care, staff quality of work life and operational efficiency, especially in the wake of today's many healthcare challenges," said Abraham Gutman, founder and CEO of AG Mednet. "We're delighted Cottage Hospital has been able to see quantifiable value from our solution both in terms of improved patient care and a better work environment for its radiology staff."
