Mountain Man Recalls Peanut Butter Products
Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Co., Salem, OR is recalling various Trail, Nut and Snack Mixes, and Honey Roast Peanuts, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The PRODUCTS WERE manufactured using peanuts/peanut products recalled by Peanut Corporation of American because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
These products were distributed through direct delivery and retail stores throughout Oregon.
Products affected by this Recall include Mountain Man Special Mixed Nuts, Mountain Man Sweet Explosion Snack Mix, Mountain Man Paddlewheel Trail Mix, Mountain Man Honey Roast Peanuts: All Lots Undated/Dated Prior to February 1, 2009, or Best if Used by Date prior to January 2009; and Mountain Man Cherry Delights: All Product purchased prior to August 14, 2008.

Products are packaged in Clear Poly or Nylon bags in various sizes up to 1 pound (16 oz.). Each bag has a Mountain Man label on the front and a nutritional label on the back.
No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product/these products. The recall was initiated after it was determined that the peanut product received was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America. Mountain Man has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
