Tulsa Health Department officials stated today that over 1,250 food inspections will be conducted during the Tulsa State Fair. This year's fair will include over 200 individual food booths that must be inspected for compliance with State food regulations.

"The Tulsa State Fair has a long history of working very closely with the Tulsa Health Department to ensure that fairgoers can indulge in their favorite fair cuisine without fear of getting a foodborne illness." stated Elizabeth Nutt, Consumer Protection Division Director.

"The hard work our staff puts into educating food vendors about food safety and the frequent inspections to make sure vendors are using safe foodhandling have proven very effective in protecting the public."

Tulsa Health Department sanitarians will be putting in 820 man hours throughout the duration of the fair. They will be educating vendors on appropriate foodhandling procedures and most importantly ensuring that proper handwashing techniques are being used.
