Child Car Seat Clinic At Degroot’s Nurseries
A properly installed car seat can reduce the risk of serious injury or death by as much as 75 per cent.
A FREE child car seat clinic will be held Friday, March 27 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at Degroot’s Nurseries, 1840 London Line, Sarnia. Registration is required.
Kelley Elliott, Health Promotion Officer with County of Lambton Community Health Services Department, says “There are two common car seat installation errors made by parents and caregivers - too much movement in the car seat base and too much slack in the harness system.
The base should not move more than 1 inch side-to-side and no more than one finger should be able to fit between the harness and the child’s collar bone.
“Parents and caregivers can ensure their child’s car seat is installed properly by following the instructions outlined in their car seat and vehicle manuals.”
