Car Seat Safety Critical To Child's Wellbeing
The Pima County Health Department is making available to residents, via the internet, an educational flyer regarding the importance of car seats and providing links to internet sites offering parents and grandparents valuable information.
The flyer cautions parents that, “Children must be properly secured in a car or booster seat based on age, weight and height.”
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA), some of the most common mistakes made regarding child safety seats are: not using the right child safety seats for a child's size and age; not placing the child safety seat in the correct direction; incorrect installation of the child safety seat in relation to the vehicle's air bags.
“As we all know, our children are our most precious gift, and as such, we need to ensure they travel safely in our vehicles,” said Isela Luna, PhD., Manager for the Health Department’s Public Health Nursing Division.
