Why Should Hospitals Reduce Unnecessary Antibiotic Use To Fight Transmission of Multidrug-Resistant Organisms

Reducing antibiotic use in intensive care units by even small amounts can significantly decrease transmission of dangerous multidrug-resistant organisms, according to new research published today in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology. The results support the call to action for hospitals to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use as a response to concerns about antibiotic resistance.
