Plant-based Diet Is The Preferred Choice For Diabetics According To Science

The new study, published in the journal Nature Immunology, highlighted that a plant-based diet promotes healthy gut bacteria and affirmed this could treat and even prevent the onset of Type 1 diabetes.
While this isn’t new news, especially in natural healing circles, science confirmed the findings that a low fat diet high in carbohydrates, high-fiber plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains, encourages the production of short-chain fatty acids that are beneficial for the immune system and help protect against the onset of Type 1 diabetes, a study shows.
The benefits of plant-based diets are undeniable

Notably, the study agreed that the Standard American diet hugely lacks adequate dietary fiber and negatively affects human gut microbiota, as well as prohibiting the production of short-chain fatty acids acetate or butyrate.
Researchers went on to confirm that “the specialized,” plant-based diet uses starches – such as those found in legumes, grains and fruit and vegetables – that lower blood sugar instantly because they digest slowly, passing through to the colon where they can be broken down by gut bacteria.This process of fermentation, the study says, produces acetate and butyrate which, when combined, provides complete protection against Type 1 diabetes.
“Our research found that eating a diet which encourages the gut bacteria that produce high levels of acetate or butyrate improves the integrity of the gut lining, which reduces pro-inflammatory factors and promote immune tolerance,” said Eliana Marino researcher at Monash University in Australia. “We found this had an enormous impact on the development of Type 1 diabetes,” Marino added.
Plant-based diet are ideal for preventing diabetes and all disease
Science has known since a 2005 study, that blood extracted from plant-based life-stylers, i.e., vegetarians and vegans, is eight times more protective against disease, than blood taken from people who followed the Standard American Diet.
Notably, the participants on the plant-based diet also attended yoga, stress management groups, and employed other techniques to prove how lifestyle choices can affect disease.
