We all know that expensive diets, and supplements and plans are no match for the cost and efficiency of water per a new study that came out this week. The reason water works so well for weight loss is it fills up the stomach with a substance that has zero calories.

Water does so much more than make weight loss much simpler and attainable.

Water is crucial to your health. It makes up, on average, 60 percent of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water. In fact, your muscles consist of 75% water, the brain is 90% of water and your blood is over 80% water.

Water is essential to how the body works. It helps transports nutrients and oxygen into cells, aids with metabolism, regulates body temperature, it protect vital organs, detoxifies and can even reduce fatigue.

Water does indeed help weight los if we drink 2 cups before each meal however; we need to look at foods that have high water content because they too can help with weight loss. For instance, cucumbers are 97% water, tomatoes and zucchini are 95% water, peaches and oranges are 87% water and

It doesn’t stop there either. Some dry ingredients are also a good source of fluid. These are the foods that act like sponges as they cook, such as beans, grains and pasta. A cup of red kidney beans is 77% water.

In the study funded by the Institute for Public Health and Water Research the challenge to the water-before-meals weight-loss strategy is getting people to do it. Carla Wolper, an assistant professor in the Eating Disorders Center at Columbia University . “The question is do people continue to drink the water in a non-study situation?" Wolper said. "We know there are a lot of simple things people could do to lose weight. Clinical trials have shown if people write down what they eat, they lost twice as much weight. Yet it's very hard to get people to write down what they eat. Or, if people would reduce portions just a little bit, they would lose weight. But people don't do it."
