Don't Just Eat Green for St Patrick's Day, Eat Green to Be Healthy


Corn beef and cabbage is a very traditional meal to eat on St Patrick ’s Day. Cabbage doesn’t just go with the corn beef, it is an extremely healthy food and is rich in nutrition and fiber and has a phenomenal source of Vitamin C.

Cabbage isn’t the only green food that is healthy for you. In fact, green foods are healthy in terms of their vitamin, mineral, water and antioxidant content. If you want to really increase your health try broccoli. It has many healthy benefits, including soluble and insoluble fiber. It is packed with vitamins A, C and E, which are important antioxidants for staving off cellular damage from free-radicals.

A green food that helps fight cholesterol and is heart smart is avocado. They are a good source of monounsaturated fats and that can help lower your cholesterol. Green asparagus is also very heart healthy for you as it is packed with folate which is essential for a healthy cardiovascular system. It is also a great source of potassium.


Carrots which are orange are not the only vegetable good for eye sight. Greens such as such as kale, collard greens and spinach contain substances that are beneficial for eye health. They are also packed with vitamins and the fibers you need to be healthy and strong.

Another healthy and tasty green tips is to try to vary your leafy greens. Keep in mind that lettuces, come in varying shades of green. The lighter the green, the less vitamins and minerals they contain. The darker the green, the higher the concentration of vitamins and minerals they contain, such as A, C and folate.

Go green and be sweet with kiwifruit. If you’re used to grabbing an orange to ensure you’re getting vitamin C, consider eating a kiwifruit instead as it contain even more vitamin C than oranges and they are a great source of dietary fiber. You can also snack on green fruits such as honeydew melon, green apples and limes. They are all a great source of vitamins wonderful antioxidant that helps wound healing and keeps the gums and teeth healthy.

Finally wash it all down with green tea. It packs the biggest punch when it comes to antioxidants. It also contains flavonoids, a class of naturally occurring plant compounds that function as antioxidants that are good for the heart.

Other healthy green fruits and vegetables can include, green pears, artichokes, arugula, brussels sprouts, Chinese cabbage, green beans, green cabbage, celery, chayote squash, cucumbers, endive, leeks, green onion, okra, peas, green pepper, snow peas, sugar snap peas, and Zucchini.



Eating all of these you're likely to turn into the jolly green giant! :) I try to eat at LEAST one natural green thing a day. From sliced avocado with my eggs to asparagus with dinner (I even like brussel sprouts and butter for a snack), it's easier than most people think to do and will help you feel and LOOK better!
