Patchwork Diet

Vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, pescatarian...the list goes on. Labels are all around us and have literally defined our identities since birth. But these labels don’t have to keep you confined any longer. It’s 2016 and we can customize absolutely everything in our lives at the touch of a button, so why not do the same for our diet?

Vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, pescatarian...the list goes on. Labels are all around us and have literally defined our identities since birth. But these labels don’t have to keep you confined any longer. It’s 2016 and we can customize absolutely everything in our lives at the touch of a button, so why not do the same for our diet?

With all the passing diet fads out there (some later deemed unhealthy and dangerous) it is hard to keep up and know what will work best for YOUR body and YOUR goals. So what if the Instagram model you follow only eats ice cream and looks like a rockstar...that doesn’t mean you need to go buy cartons of ice cream at the supermarket and wait for your 6-pack abs to peek through.

You can take charge of your health, your life and you diet by listening to your body and patching together the diet that aligns with exactly who you are, what makes you feel good, and where you want to go.

Unless you're trying to lose a lot of weight, have health issues or need to lower blood pressure, it's time to take the pressure off and have a little customized fun with your food!

The rules, restrictions and regulations of conforming to a diet with a label can make you feel frustrated and like you have no power or choice. This is incredibly disempowering and sends signals to your brain that you’re not happy with this but you’re doing it anyway. Your mind is incredibly powerful, so you need to be conscious of the messages you’re sending to your body.

The key is to observe and listen to your body after you eat or drink anything. Take note of how that food makes you feel and honor the reasonable cravings you have, because your body calls for foods that contain nutrients you may be lacking.

This is your permission to break free of labels and constrictions and create the life and diet of your dreams - within reason. Release the pressure, honor your body and feed your mind with positive messages and nutrient rich foods - and leave guilt at the door.

The only person you need to answer to is yourself and as long as you’re satisfied with what you’re doing and how what you put in your body makes you feel, then more power to you!
