If you’re one of the millions of people who drink coffee everyday and are also trying to lose some weight, then this is your new recipe for success. Superpower your coffee to help you burn more fat, curb your appetite, boost metabolism, and sharpen your focus! Hello coconut oil!

Coconut oil is growing increasingly popular as it’s making a come back from being put in culinary “time-out” after it was deemed unhealthy due to being categorized as a saturated fat. Although it is technically a fat, this is one of the healthy fats that actually help you lose weight.

Coconut oil is the fat-burning fat that alleviates more ailments than most other natural products on the planet. From wrinkles to digestion, anti-bacterial properties to lice eradication, coconut oil pretty much does it all. You can even brush your teeth with it!

Nutritional Value of Coconut Oil

  • 50% lauric acid (prevents high blood pressure and cholesterol levels)
  • 90% saturated fat (increases absorption of vitamins, minerals and amino acids)
  • MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides) boost energy immediately, suppress appetite, speed-up metabolism
  • Regulates thyroid and enzyme function
  • Aids in weight loss by targeting abdominal fat

It’s no wonder that adding a bit of caffeine to the already energy boosting and weight loss benefits of coconut oil is a weight loss dream and a match made in heaven!

Coconut Oil & Coffee/Espresso

If you love coffee but hate the looming crash after lunch, you don’t have to worry about that! The combination of caffeine and coconut oil is an incredibly sustainable and long-lasting source of energy that will get you through the day, but won’t keep you up at night. Just be aware that if you’re sensitive to caffeine in general, to not have any too late in the day.

There are a few options when it comes to making this tropical delight:

  1. Brew high-quality coffee and add 1-2 rough tablespoons coconut oil and stir
  2. Combine brewed coffee with 1-2 rough tablespoons coconut oil in blender and blend for 30-seconds. This will give you a completely integrated, superpowered, frothy beverage.
  3. Eat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and then drink your regular cup of coffee
  4. For a sweeter taste, add a bit of stevia, agave syrup or your preferred 100% natural sweetener. You can also add a dash of cinnamon or ground hazelnut for a cozy and gourmet flavor.

You will find that with any of the above options of consumption, you will need to drink less coffee in the morning and (most likely) none throughout the day.

What to Buy

With the popularity of coconut oil on the rise, and more options available at the store. It can be difficult to know what is good and what is maybe not as great. Look for unprocessed (or virgin), organic, coconut oil.

Are the Side-effects?
The only thing that could happen is a bit of digestive disruption if you use too much. This could include diarrhea or experiencing a light-headed feeling. Start slow and gauge as you go.

Other Beverage Options
If you’re not a coffee drinker, add the same quantity of coconut oil to your hot tea! Coconut oil is hard at room temperature so it can’t be easily added to cold drinks.

As with everything, moderation is key and everyone will respond differently. Give this superpowered drink a try and let me know how it goes!
