Weight Loss Relationship Problems? 8 Reasons Why Losing Weight Together Will Save Your Relationship
It can take a lifetime to learn everything there is to know about your partner, and even longer to figure out how to respond to them in certain situations. Staying active and enjoying life together is a key component of figuring each other out. Skip this step and things will eventually become a lot more difficult. Here is how weight loss together helps with relationship problems.
Relationships are not easy. Staying active and reaching towards fitness goals with each other can significantly improve your happiness with your partner. Losing weight by playing games and having fun is much more preferable and effective in the long run.
It is true that you can still get to know each other and enjoy each other’s company with less active hobbies such as board games and movie-going, but there is much more to be gained when the activity is a healthy one.
Here are 8 reasons why staying active and enjoying physical activities with your partner will save your relationship:
Physical Activities are Fun.
Furthermore, they make you feel better after the fact as endorphins are running through your bloodstream. Having fun in your relationship is one of the best ways to stay together, and working out together can be a blast.
If you spend more time together you are bound to communicate more. Going on walks together will only serve to increase your communication. I Have personally found that when you get your blood pumping and your feet moving the conversation is deeper than it normally would be. My wife and I have had some of our best talks during walks. It was a walk and talk that actually prompted us to start searching for a job further south!
Activity Helps Sleep
When you are more active you will naturally sleep better. When you get enough sleep you are less irritable and less stressed and this will lead to a better, happier relationship. If I don’t get enough sleep at night I always discover that I am irritable the next day, and the person that it gets taken out on is my wife. I don’t do this on purpose, but when you live, work, and hangout with the same person it is bound to happen. Getting more sleep does not completely prevent this, but humans function much better when we get a full night’s rest.
Weight Loss Together Improves Relationships
You will become closer with your partner. If you find that the two of you are starting to grow apart in any way, why not try to start doing more things together?
Working out and staying active will give your partnership a common goal to work towards. There is better way to keep motivated than working with someone that can keep you accountable. Having an accountability partner is a fantastic way to lose weight because it helps you stay consistent, and consistency in weight loss is one of the more important avenues to success.
Learn More About Each Other
When you are doing a fun activity with your partner you learn more about their likes and dislikes. You get to know them on a deeper level and this greatly strengthens your relationship.
Working out and getting shape requires a ton of support. Who better to give you that support than a person that is close to you? Hopefully, your significant other will be able to push you when you need but also support you when you are feeling down or overwhelmed.
One of you will usually be motivated.
Let’s face it, we all have times when we have 0 motivation to go the gym. Just the other day, my wife said to me “alright, we are going to the gym.” She said this right after getting off a long shift at work. I hadn’t even considered going that afternoon, but I went just because she wanted to go. There will of course be days that neither of you want to do anything hardcore, and these days are good days to go on a long walk
Staying active is an important part of a healthy relationship. Join a gym, find a mutual interest in a sport, or take up walking as a regular habit. Make a positive change right now and you will find that your relationship will flourish, and the weight will start to come off as a by-product.
