If you don’t first decide to lose weight and purposely strive towards that goal, you will never find success. The most important weight loss factor is you. What? Yes, you! Action taking is the number one best thing that you can do to lose weight. It may sound simple but it is a highly underestimated part of what we are taught about weight loss and dieting. Taking decisive action is what it takes to be successful in the long run in anything that you do, and this most definitely includes weight loss.

The good news is that the action required to lose weight isn't hard. Eat a little bit more fruits and veggies, drink more water, exercise, avoid too much sugar. These are all easy ways to lose weight and the fact is that it is not rocket science to start. You don’t need any special degree in weight or any special training.

All you need to do is make one simple small change at a time and continue to move forwards.

It is true that you cannot make one change and hope that it will fix all of your problems. If you choose to drink more water that is great, but it won’t really help in the long run if your normal dinner meal consists of pizza, soda, and chips.

However, make one change, master it, and then stack on another small change to your lifestyle. Before you know it, you will be losing weight and heading towards the body of your dreams. You will start to understand why weight loss isn’t hard, yet it takes time.

Follow these three steps to start your weight loss journey and to keep things going:

  1. Pick a positive change that you can make in your life. Be very specific with the change, and then take action. Try the positive change out and see how you do. If it isn't something that is going to work for you try something else. However, it likely won’t be easy, so don’t give up too soon!
  2. Find someone that will encourage you. Encouragement can make all the difference in making your weight loss journey successful. You will find that you can encourage them as well in whatever goals they are striving for, and reaching a goal as a team is much easier and much more fulfilling.
  3. No matter what you do, be consistent. Drink water in the morning for 30 days straight, or go out for daily walks for a month. The change you are making has to impact your life on a long-term basis. Sadly, what you do in just one day is not going to matter if you can’t follow it up the next day. Keep on trying, and even if you fail one day, get up the next and try again. Be persistent and stay consistent in order to start losing weight.

Losing weight starts with you taking action. Take that first step and never look back.
