Simplify Weight Loss By Eating High Fiber Foods in Diet Using These 5 Approaches
If you could make one change in your diet right now it should be to add more fiber for weight loss. 95% of Americans don't get enough of this natural part of food. This is an outrageous number and there is no reason that you need to be part of this statistic. Instead, eat more high fiber foods in your diet and get into the 5% that does have enough every day.
It is very easy to eat more high fiber foods. I did so myself when I was directed by my doctor to go on a high fiber diet. She told me that I needed to eat more fruits and veggies and this was not news to me. I had always been told that I should eat more fruits and vegetables, but I never really knew why. This was the day that my fiber adventure started and I have never looked back.
I discovered that the reason to eat more fruits and veggies is because of their fiber content. Fiber is found in almost all produce and many other foods such as grains, nuts, legumes (beans) and seeds. High fiber foods are extremely important to incorporate into your diet, and it is easy to start doing it right away.
Here are some of the best high fiber foods that you can start eating right away:
- Wheat Pasta
- Any type of bean
The list definitely could keep going here. You can find fiber in all kinds of different foods and you are bound to find some that you like. The key is to continue searching and adding more into your diet.
I personally ate most of my fiber by upping my intake of fruits and veggies and making sure that I ate some at every meal. Furthermore I had wheat pasta or chili for a lot of my main meals. The added side benefit of these dinners is that they also were high in protein. This aided in my fitness levels as well since I was lifting at the time. There are plenty of other high fiber meals that you can eat, but I stuck with the two meals that I enjoyed the most.
Here are 5 ways to focus on fiber in your diet for a super simple weight loss.
Availability of fruits and vegetables
Always keep fruits and vegetables readily available to be eaten. This means keeping apples in your fridge, keeping your stock of bananas fresh, buying frozen fruits and veggies to be used whenever needed, and having a go to snack such as almonds or pistachios.
Learn to fall in love with smoothies. Smoothies are an excellent way to give your diet a much needed boost. You can fill them with fruit and veggies which will give you more fiber, more protein, and essential vitamins and nutrients, all while tasting delicious.
New foods in your diet
Be willing to try new foods. Often, we stay away froms foods only because we haven’t tried them yet. It is important to be willing to try new foods because this will expand our taste buds while shortening our waistlines.
Stick with high fiber foods you love
Find the foods you love and stick with those. Not all healthy foods will appeal to everyone. I personally think peas are gross and have a hard time eating them. However, I can eat a stalk of broccoli any time of the day. You need to enjoy the process of changing your diet and you should never feel like you are forcing yourself to eat something you hate. These types of diets do not work because they will fail over time. You NEED to make it work for you.
Eat at home
Make dinner at home. Often times going out to eat means getting what the restaurant gives you. This means that they probably won’t use whole wheat pasta, and instead will use whatever ingredients they deem appropriate to make the food taste good. The problem is that you just don't know what they are using. Making dinner at home gives you the power and the control that you need in order to achieve victory.
Eat more high fiber foods and you will slowly start to notice the difference. Shift your diet slowly over time for maximum effectiveness and consistency.
