A new medical device is giving fibromyalgia patients hope that they can fight chronic pain without drugs. AVACEN Medical shared the AVACEN 100 muscle relaxation device at the recent PAINWeek conference in Las Vegas. The device is an over-the-counter product that provides a noninvasive treatment option for pain.

During the recent PAINWeek conference in Las Vegas, multiple treatments and devices were introduced for pain management. The AVACEN 100 is considered to be an FDA cleared class II OTC medical device. This over-the-counter (OTC) device allows patients who suffer from chronic pain to receive treatments at home, and prescriptions are not necessary to acquire it. The machine can be used 10 to 30 minutes at a time to feel better. It combines heat therapy and negative pressure to give patients temporary relief from pain.

The AVACEN 100 is a blue and white machine that allows patients to insert their hand into the device. They can adjust the settings with their free hand and use the device at the same time. Inside the machine, your hand rests on a pad that is heated. A study conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the University of California on the AVACEN 100 found that it was able to reduce pain without side effects.

AVACEN Medical points out that the device offers muscle relaxation without invasive treatments. It can help treat pain without drugs or supplements. The AVACEN 100 has been cleared by the FDA for treating joint pain, arthritis, muscle spasms, muscle relaxation, minor strains and sprains. The company is waiting for FDA clearance for fibromyalgia. Before starting any new treatment, you may want to consult your doctor. The device is not recommended for pregnant women and people under the age of 18. In addition, if you suffer from heart disease, blood circulation issues or have a high temperature, then you may want to discuss it with your doctor before using the device.
