Disney reveals new gluten-free snacks

Disney has created a new line of gluten-free and allergen-free snacks for its visitors. The new Snacks with Character line has a variety of treats that are designed to be gluten-free, nut-free and free from other allergens. The snacks will be offered at Disney theme parks and cruises, and visitors have already started to see the prepackaged items on shelves. If you are wondering if they are safe for visitors with celiac disease, then you may want to consider the official information from Disney.

Disney is offering 11 new products in the Snacks with Character line that range from bars to trail mixes. The official Disney Parks blog mentions that the prepackaged snacks are gluten-free, nut-free and also free from some of the other common allergens. For example, the chocolate chip crunchy cookie is gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, soy-free and GMO-free.

According to Disney, the items are certified gluten-free and made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, so concerns about celiac disease safety have been answered. The Snacks with Character line will be available at Disney parks and cruises, and some locations are already selling the items. Disney worked with several brands, including Enjoy Life Foods, Ocean Spray, WOW Baking Company and Way Better Snacks, to design the new products. All of the items are individually wrapped and packaged, so cross-contamination issues are reduced.

The official Disney Food blog has posted photos of the new snacks and added pictures of the nutrition labels. If you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance, then your options at Disney have been expanded. The new snacks include chocolate chip cookies, lemon burst cookies, dark chocolate bars, chocolate sunseed bars and others. All of the packages feature a different Disney character and have the gluten-free label. Disney is also planning to release more gluten-free options in the future.
