Celiac disease alert: Schneider's recalls All Beef Bologna for undeclared wheat and milk
The Maple Leaf Foods company is recalling Schneider's All Beef Bologna because the packages are missing important ingredients. Wheat and milk are included in the product, but the label does not have this information. If you have celiac disease, gluten sensitivities or milk allergies, then you should not consume the product.
Only one type of product from the Schneider's brand is currently on the recall list. According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the recalled All Beef Bologna was sold in packages weighing 175 grams. The code on the bologna is 2015 JN 15, and the UPC code is 0 62000 31690 1. Although the company sells the All Beef Bologna in other packages and sizes, they are not part of the current recall.
Schneider's has not issued a statement at this time to explain why wheat and milk were not declared on one type of its bologna. Under the product listings on its official website, the brand recommends that consumers refer to the package for the most accurate and up to date information because ingredients can change at any time. It is important to note that other sizes of the All Beef Bologna indicate that the product contains wheat and milk. In addition, other bologna products, such as the Blue Ribbon Bologna, clearly state that they have wheat flour and milk.
If you are allergic to wheat or milk or have sensitivities to these ingredients, then you should not consumer the Schneider's All Beef Bologna. The product was distributed to retail locations in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency labels this as a Class II recall.
