Try canola oil to beat belly fat
Researchers say consuming canola oil may decrease abdominal fat in a relatively short time.
Too much fat around the belly is associated with health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes and is also often a cause of emotional problems. In a search for natural remedies to beat this problem consuming canola oil has surfaced as a good consideration.
Consuming canola oil may help you cut down on belly fat
Penn State News reports consuming canola oil may help you cut down on belly fat. It has been suggested by research that abdominal fat is targeted by monounsaturated fatty acids.
Health researchers have said that abdominal fat may be decreased in as short a time as four weeks by adhering to a healthy diet which includes canola oil. This is very significant because there is an increased risk for serious illnesses including cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes with excess visceral, or abdominal, fat. The
monounsaturated fats in canola oil lower this fat which is associated with adverse health effects.
Abdominal fat seems to be specifically targeted by monounsaturated fatty acids
Penny M. Kris-Etherton, who is distinguished professor of nutrition at Penn State, says as a general rule weight loss can't be targeted to specific body regions. However abdominal fat seems to be specifically targeted by monounsaturated fatty acids. Kris-Etherton has suggested using canola oil to saute food and in baking. He also recommends adding canola oil to salad dressings and smoothies.
Canola oil is very high in monounsaturated fatty acids, which have been found to have positive effects on body composition. This is particularly true in people who are obese. Participants this study who consumed conventional canola oil or high-oleic acid canola oil for four weeks had a loss of abdominal fat.
This study has been published in Obesity, which is a research journal. The researchers wanted to determine the effect of diets which are low in saturated fatty acids and which are high in monounsaturated fatty acids or polyunsaturated fatty acids on the body composition of participants who were at risk for metabolic syndrome.
It was concluded that diets which are high in monounsaturated fatty acids decreased central obesity. There was an associated improvement in risk factors for metabolic syndrome. Diets which are high in monounsaturated fatty acids may be helpful for the treatment and prevention of metabolic syndrome. Canola oil therefore seems to offer a tasty way to reach for better health.
