Health Services Must Improve Stroke Services

The health service must speed up the pace at which it is improving stroke services for the benefits of patients.

The Welsh Assembly Government set out plans in March 2006 to provide consistent high-quality access to stroke care from prevention to effective treatment and rehabilitation, within the Older People's National Service Framework (NSF).


While improvements have been made in some areas, progress has been patchy and not Wales-wide.

The health service is now being required to develop and enhance stroke services. Specific improvements are detailed below and the Minister expects these to be met by March 2008.
