Craws for a Cause Raises Money for Giraffe Omni-Beds

Grateful parents of babies born prematurely have banned together to organize Craws for a Cause, a crawfish fundraiser that's goal is to raise money to Giraffe Omni-Beds.

Craws for a Cause takes place today, April 24, at the Dickey-Stephens Park from 7 pm until midnight. There will be live music, cold beverages, unlimited crawfish and fixings. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Children 10 and under get in free.

The group is hoping to raise $70,000 for Baptist Health's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) this year so that 2 Giraffe-OMNI Beds can be purchased.

The Giraffe Omni-Bed is a full-featured incubator and radiant warmer that eliminates the stress of moving critically-ill infants that weigh between 1-3 pounds from bed to bed. It includes an in-bed scale which allows weights to be taken and trended without removing the baby. It gives these premature babies the best fighting chance for a healthy life. It can help impede future years of costly therapy, intervention, and medical care for developmental delay or developmental disabilities.

There is a shortage of these amazing incubators in central Arkansas NICUs. Even now there are premature babies that need them. Each Giraffe Omni-Bed costs $35000.

If you can’t make it to Craws For A Cause 2010, you can still make a donation by going to for details and to donate to the cause.
