Some examples of snack foods to eat before a meal include:

  • Egg
  • Greek yogurt
  • Soy (edamame or soy crisps)
  • A handful of nuts
  • A bit of cottage cheese

The study was a meta-analysis that found the right sort of snacks before meals could be another tool to help with weight loss. Mom wasn't all wrong it turns out. Snacking before meals does make us fuller, which for weight loss turns out to be a good thing.
