Free Health Care Offered By Walgreens Take Care Health Systems
Walgreens and Take Care Health Systems have launched a free health clinic to help families obtain healthcare who suffer from job and insurance insurance loss. In order to qualify for Walgreen’s free health services, you must lack health insurance from job loss on or after March 31. Family members of jobless spouses, as well as their children are also eligible for free healthcare, including lab tests.
The Take Care Clinics will operate throughout 2009. Patients who have been treated at the Walgreen clinics in the past, and find themselves without health insurance from job loss after March 31 can obtain healthcare free of charge. Patients, who have not treated at a Walgreen health care clinic in the past, need only pay for the first visit.
Identification is required, in the form of a driver’s license or State ID, as well as you determination letter for unemployment. A form will need to be filled out, consisting of three pages. The process allows the Walgreens staff to make an instant determination of eligibility for free health services.
President and CEO of Walgreens, Gregory D. Wasson says, “Walgreens and Take Care Health Systems will not stand idly by as individuals are forced by the hardships of the economy to choose among basic necessities such as health care, housing and food. Quality, accessible and affordable care should be the right of every individual. For that reason, we are announcing the offer of the Take Care Recovery Plan, so that families finding themselves without employment and health insurance benefits aren’t forced to make this tough decision.”
According to the Take Care Recovery Plan, patients with upper respiratory illness, allergies, pink eye, urinary tract infections, minor rashes and burns can seek treatment from Walgreens at the Take Care clinics between 11am and 3pm.
Hal F. Rosenbluth, President of Walgreens Health and Wellness division and Chairman of Take Care Health Systems says, “Take Care Clinics were founded on the principle of providing patient-focused care and doing all that they can to help every patient in the communities they serve. We consider this opportunity to help current and future Take Care Clinic patients a privilege and believe that Take Care Clinics are well-placed to deliver such peace of mind.” Rosenbluth believes the economy should not prevent access to vital healthcare.
Quest Diagnostics has also joined Walgreens efforts to deliver healthcare for minor ailments. Quest will provide free lab screenings for strep throat and urine analysis to establish infection as part of Walgreens Take Care Recovery Plan.
