Affordable Healthcare Work Begins Next Week
President Obama rallied for affordable healthcare for all Americans tonight. Addressing the impact on the health of Americans from a sagging economy, Obama promises that healthcare reform “will not wait another year”. During his address, President Obama pointed out the impact of lost jobs, and sleepless nights on the lives and health of Americans. Obama vows that he will give Americans affordable health insurance options.
The President says he is committed to healthcare reform, pointing out he has already enabled eleven million children to have access to healthcare. Furthermore, he says he is committed to finding a cure for cancer – a disease that has personally touched his own life.
Obama’s outline for healthcare reform includes the following:
· Electronic healthcare records to reduce waste and medical errors
· A focus on curing cancer
· Prevention of disease
Healthcare costs have ‘weighed down our economy long enough”, says Obama. Next week, the work toward healthcare reform begins.
According to the President, healthcare debt causes someone to declare bankruptcy every thirty seconds. Healthcare costs have grown four times faster than the average American wage, a point also made by Obama to drive-home the absurdity of a healthcare system that has become incomparably overinflated in cost.
Healthcare reform has been a long time coming. We hope the work toward affordable healthcare that begins next week also draws to a quick close. Studies have shown that American’s are ignoring their health needs.
