Parets Allegedly convinced son he has cancer

The 13-year-old boy has spent the last 8 months believing he is going to die from brain cancer because his parents allegedly told people that their child has terminal brain cancer in a phony, yet successful attempt to get donations to help with the cost of his medical expenses.

The investigation came from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the announcement was posted on its Facebook page saying the parents are now in custody for allegedly telling their teenage son that he has a terminal brain cancer and is going to die. But the police investigation revealed his medical records prove no brain tumors exist. The boy has lived in fear for the past several months. Imagine how someone in his place would feel.

Ginni and Edward Long had the evil idea of getting money through their son, who they said had cancer and had only a few months to live because his brain cancer was incurable. They published several articles and created a GoFundMe account to accept enough cache to pay for the child's surgery.

However, according to the police investigation, the child had no brain tumor the medical records show. For 8 months this child believed he had terminal cancer.

The couple became even more "creative" in its evil plan. They set up a T-shirt fundraiser for the boy at his school in 2017 and shared the fake cancer diagnosis information on Facebook as well. They even said it was a miracle that the boy lived 3 days past Christmas.

"Investigators say the victim appeared to be in good health in the photograph. When they talked to the child, he said Irovando told him he was going to die due to brain cancer back in May 2017. He says it scared him and he didn’t like to talk about it. He also told them Irovando and Long had created a Go Fund Me account on his behalf, reports Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.

The couple is now taken into custody as investigators found that they were exploiting the victim for financial gain by falsely saying he was dying from brain cancer.

How cold can love grow? I am speechless. If confirmed, people like these are sick people. No one should exploit children or anyone like this or in any other manner.

"You've made people so incredibly angry. You've made Mothers angry. Not just any mothers. Mothers of children who have legitimate health issues. Were you jealous? Did you want the attention you got from having a child with a major medical issue? Well, those mothers do not want that attention. Do you realize that they have to prepare their children for a life of possible medical issues? Do you know how hard that is? Well, no, you do not. You didn't think it was hard to upset your child. It didn't bother you at all to see him scared, terrified. Whereas those mothers are trying to get the nerve up to explain to their child that they don't know what the future holds. They dread the day that they will have to explain that to their babies. It makes them sick to think of scaring their child. But you enjoyed it. You are a monster that enjoyed terrorizing a child," writes Valerie Hudson to Mrs Long under OCSO's report.

Another parent who has a child with cancer wrote the following comment. "As a mother with a small child fighting cancer, this absolutely infuriates me. I have so much I want to say, but I think it’s best I refrain, " wrote Ashley Nichole Welles.

"You know this is really disturbing and really sick there are parents out there that have children that have this issue the pray to God everyday that their child did not have terminal brain cancer cry everyday because they know that one day they're going to lose their child this is the sickest most disturbing story I have read in a very long time and to make that baby believe for 8 months of his life that he was going to die was beyond sickening selfish and very sad," wrote Elizabeth Murray in the same place.

"This is just sick. I know families that have battled cancer and it is such a tragedy to be in their shoes even to imagine what they are feeling. This couple took a tragedy to profit. I didn't donate but I can just imagine how angry people that did are. The trauma that little boy has experience, being told he's going to die by his parents," commented Jennifer Becerra.

Good job OCSO.
