Simple Vegan Pizza Toppings Combinations from Vegan People

Yesterday What Broke Vegans Eat Facebook group was abuzz with toppings one can use to make a vegan pizza. Making the dough for a vegan pizza recipe is simple, but for the toppings you have to be cleverly creative.


So what would you put on a homemade vegan pizza? One group member asked this question and received lots of vegan pizza recipes some of which I share here with eMaxHealth readers.

Consider, for example, BBQ sauce, pineapple, peppers, and onions. Or mushrooms olives bell peppers jalapeños and tomatoes as your next vegan pizza toppings.

Some people also use cauliflower. For example, consider riced cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers, onions and sliced black olives.

If you are one of those people who go very hard for their pizza toppings and want lots of things on their pizzas, consider these: mushrooms, caramelized onions, veggie ground, pineapple, banana peppers and sometimes vegan ham. Then dollop the Mozza from and possibly top with arugula.

Other people also use vegan cheese. I read about this topping that includes vegan cheese, onion, bell pepper, pineapple, and vegan parmesan cheese. This can be yet another toppings combination for a vegan pizza.


Yet another good ingredient to use in a vegan pizza is the sun-dried tomato. Consider this combo for a vegan pizza topping: red onion, mushroom, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, peppers, etc. and probably a homemade cashew cheese unless you had cheese on hand.

I love the roasted vegetables: especially the roasted bell peppers. The will give you vegan pizza a good taste and flavor. So, another combination of toppings can be roasted vegetables including eggplant, red capsicum, roasted bell peppers, and tomato. Baby spinach and nutritional yeast are good too.

"I use thinly sliced Roma tomatoes, green bell pepper and red onion with garlic. I chop basil after the pizza comes out of the oven," writes Christy Heath in the group.

"For my vegan pizza toppings, I use olive, pineapple, artichoke, corn, bell pepper, veg. cheese, parsley, onion, tomato, a ton of mushroom, spinach, kale, and basil. Usually, I get my crust and marinara from Trader Joe's! Their tomatoes in oil or sundried are good as well. When I feel lazy I just buy the pita bread and bake it like a pizza with all the toppings," writes Allicia Allende.

Vegan pizza recipe from the start to the end

Jenn Utt from the group shares her recipe here. "My vegan pizza recipe. I hope it makes sense. I start with the dough. Two parts flour to one part water. Let it rise for 45 minutes. Next, make a sauce. I make from tomatoes roasted in the oven. Then pan roast sesame seeds. Next, after removing those two items I place them in a blender. I add olive oil, dried chili pepper and fenugreek seeds to a pan fry until they are dark brown. Add that oil and mix to the tomatoes and roasted sesame seeds. After that, I add chopped cilantro, salt and lemon juice to taste. It's such a good sauce! Knead the dough, place sauce, add chopped garlic onion and whatever veggies you want. Bake until dough is cooked. It will taste so good."
