It’s that time of year again. The holidays are over, the Superbowl is past and the awards ceremonies are just beginning. So, how do the glamorous people like Angelina Jolie Pitt keep their red-carpet bodies year round?


It seems the 40 year old A-lister and director prefers soups and noshes on ancient grains, including per MarieClaire, “a mixture of quinoa, millet, chia seeds, spelt, and buckwheat” that she says gives her energy and vitality and according to their source, ''Angelina has been known to start her day with little more than a spoonful of coconut oil and a handful of cereal." As a rule she doesn’t eat after 8pm and drinks plenty of water.

So, it might not be such a bad idea to put soup back on your menu. According to a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, in which researchers surveyed more the 20,000 people, those who included soup in their diet, on the average, weighed less than their non-soup eating counterparts.

The researchers also found that the soup lovers consumed fewer calories and fat per day and attributed the result to a higher degree of satiety and a reduction in hunger throughout the day. Another study from 2007 found that people who ate at all-you-can-eat pizza buffets ate 20% fewer calories if they had chicken soup as an appetizer.


Soup is not only great for cutting calories. It appears that people who are committed to soup consume more protein and fiber as well as vitamins and minerals. It is a good idea to make your own soups as prepared varieties often are high in sodium.

Jolie Pitt also makes time for regular exercise which helps keeps her flexible, and ready for demanding and often very physical roles including that of wife and mother of six. Her routine includes yoga, kickboxing, and resistance training as well as lunges, squats, and pullups.

Whether as an appetizer or a hearty meal, soup might be one of the best choices on the menu. Clearly the choice works for Jolie Pitt and I for one, can’t wait to see her on the Red Carpet with husband Brad.
