If you or someone you know has a pet, an iPhone, and wants to save time and money while keeping the pet safe and happy, there’s a new solution in pet care: the new Pet First Aid application on the iPhone.

The content was developed by PetTech (petcpr.com/), experts in Pet First Aid and Pet Emergency Preparedness Training while the application was developed by Jive Media. Available for $4.99 in the Apple App Store, Pet First Aid features detailed videos, step-by-step illustrations, and helpful tips covering all emergency situations pet owners might encounter while on the go or at home.

While not a replacement for needed emergency care, the new application is a helpful tool to keep pets safe and healthy.

"By partnering with PetTech, we could focus on our strengths in technology while leveraging their depth of knowledge in emergency animal care,” said Doug Kent, co-founder of Jive Media. “Combining these strengths definitely produced the best of both worlds – an important product that is also fun and innovative."

According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, the average cost to visit a veterinary for a non-emergency is $219 for dogs and $175 for cats, and many of these time-consuming and costly incidents could be avoided in the first place.

That’s if the owner had an ‘on-the-go’ resource in their pocket to administer CPR, treat cuts, bites and more. Knowledge is power, and the more owners know how to treat their pets for non-emergencies, the less likely a simple problem becomes a big problem! Estimates indicate that up to 40 percent of animal hospital visits are non-emergency in nature.

So in addition to pet first aid content, the Pet First Aid application also allows users to store pet medical profiles for emergency situations. The user can record a medical profile that includes the pet's name, weight, age, vaccinations, medications, veterinarian contact info, allergies and conditions, and medical notes.

All videos, illustrations, and articles with the application are stored locally on the iPhone for offline and wilderness access. Pet First Aid is compatible with all version of the iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 2.0 or later.

By combining PetTech's expertise in pet first aid with Jive Media's innovation in mobile applications, the two companies have built a valuable and feature-filled application that is a must-have for all pet owners.

So instead of scurrying in a panic to a veterinary hospital for a non-emergency – while one’s pet is in pain and its owners wallet will be after receiving the bill! – use can now use Pet First Aid on the iPhone.

It’s the most sophisticated iPhone application for helping save a pet's life, complete with videos and illustrations. Never before has such thorough Pet First Aid information been available at owners’ fingertips – right on their iPhone.
